When I do the Boot Scootin' Boogie with you
It takes me to the forties, growing up in World War II,
Before the days of baby-boomers, Huggin' and Chalkin' filled
the room,
Blue Skirt Waltz and "Hello, Linda," Red Silk Stockings
and Green Perfume,
Too Fat Polka -- Arthur Godfrey -- he sought talent for Old
Gold,
"Not a cough in a carload," they took his spare lung,
we were told,
Those memorable days are now all over -- yes, we knew they
wouldn't stay,
But I loved the Rumba Boogie done the South American way.
